Gallery Mcube is pleased to present “Festive Spirit”, a solo
exhibition by renowned Nepali artist Pradip Kumar Bajracharya.
In this compelling body of work, Bajracharya explores the vibrant
spirit of Newari culture through his expressive paintings inspired
by traditional festivals, or Jatras. Using vivid colours, layered
textures, and dynamic brushstrokes, the artist captures the
movement, rhythm, and emotional intensity that define these
cultural celebrations.
Motifs such as chariots, temples, chants,
and communal gatherings emerge across his canvases, evoking
the collective energy and shared identity of the Kathmandu
Valley.
Deeply rooted in personal experience, Bajracharya’s work
reflects his lifelong connection to the festivals he grew up
witnessing. For the artist, these events are not merely occasions
of celebration but powerful expressions of cultural continuity,
belief systems, and community bonds. Through “Festive Spirit,”
he seeks to both honor and preserve Nepal’s rich cultural
heritage while offering viewers an immersive visual experience.
Pradip Kumar Bajracharya completed his Bachelor’s Degree in
Fine Arts from the College of Fine Arts, Tribhuvan University, in
1997. With a career spanning over two decades, he has held
several notable solo exhibitions including “Festive Images”
(2003), “Festive Moods” (2004), and “Heritage Panorama”
(2007), among others. His works have been widely exhibited
both nationally and internationally, including in Thailand,
Indonesia, the United States, Bangladesh, Belgium, Sri Lanka,
and Japan.
A recipient of prestigious awards such as the 1st Prize from the
Camlin Art Foundation, Kolkata (2005), and the 2nd Prize at the
National Art and Craft Exhibition organized by NAFA (2002),
Bajracharya continues to contribute significantly to the Nepali art
scene. He is also a co-founding member of Kasthamandap Art
Studio and E-Arts Nepal, actively supporting the growth of
contemporary art practices in Nepal.
